Seasons 1-8 see shippers making bids on two of the shipments listed on the uShip website. This is an auction reverse type of format. Bids contain comments about the potential risks and costs and the reasons and skills. The job usually goes to the bidder with the lowest bid after the auction has ended. However, at the discretion of the client the job may be awarded to a higher bidder who has received a higher score from past clients' feedback. Feedback ratings are used to break any bonds for the lowest bid. Season 9 shipping companies receive their loads through an agent for shipping. They don't see the bidding process. Instead they load their cargo, and then try to deliver it on time before the deadline of the client or receiver. Client feedback scores are shown after the loads have been delivered. The revenue of each shipper and costs (fuel, labor and late-delivery penalties) are displayed on screen at the end. The bid amount is subtracted to calculate the total loss and profit. Sometimes, shippers will offer to transport additional loads as part of the same journey. The additional amount is then added to their total. In some instances, the shipper will be unable to complete a job due to concerns about the size/weight of the load or road safety. Sometimes, one or more shippers will enlist the services of a third party to complete the task. The shippers then decide between themselves which way to divide the profits. The progression of each shipment can be disrupted by funny criticisms from other shippers during seasons 1-8.
