Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his home with community service. One of the first things he did is to help his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. All three became All-America. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as a teacher. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and playing for the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he joined the university of south Florida's sports department as its assistant director. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
